INTERNSHIPS
Second Street Gallery offers summer and academic year internships in conjunction with the University of Virginia's Internship Programs. UIP is a for-credit, academic internship program offered through the Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service in collaboration with the College of Arts & Sciences, Departments of Sociology and Psychology. JOBS

Second Street Gallery, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit arts organization seeks a full-time OPERATIONS MANAGER.

Second Street Gallery is committed to showcasing the best in contemporary art and artists, and to inspiring new ways of thinking, seeing and doing. Since its founding in 1973, SSG has served the community with continuous exhibition and educational outreach programming. Today, SSG is recognized as one of the leading nonprofit supporters of contemporary art in the Mid Atlantic region.

Position is largely administrative. Duties include

-scheduling artist’s travel and shipping of artwork

-creating exhibition announcements, sending press releases

-coordinating & supervising outreach events

-organizing and managing 3 interns and numerous volunteers

-maintaining and updating website (training provided)

-overseeing Gallery rentals

 

Candidate MUST exhibit:

-excellent writing skills

-attention to detail

-courteous phone manner

Candidate would benefit from experience with the following:

-Adobe InDesign and Photoshop

-Word and other Office programs

-Mac interface

-Art History courses

-Non-profit organizations

 

BA Required.

Start Date Flexible

Full-time, 40 hrs/wk with occasional evenings  & Saturdays

Salary $21,500 + Benefits
